To insure a more safe ride for our students on the busses we ask that you review the following rules and consequences with your student(s).

Six Basic Bus Rules

1) - No "rough housing" of any kind -- pushing, loud noises, fighting, profanity, and throwing of anything is strictly forbidden.

2) - All riders must remain seated until the bus comes to a complete stop and the door is opened.

3) - NOTHING (arms, legs, lunches, objects, etc.) should be out any window of the bus.

4) - Line up at the bus stop and wait until the bus stops fully before approaching to load. Depart off the bus in an orderly and controlled, safe and patient manner.

5) - Behave in a way which show RESPONSIBILITY, CONSIDERATION, and RESPECT for others and for property.

6) - Follow ALL directions from the bus driver -- NO EXCEPTIONS!

Consequences for Bus Misbehavior

Any infractions of the rules shall result in the following actions. The ultimate consequence is that a student may be forbidden from riding the school bus. No one wants that to ever happen. The importance of proper and safe riding behavior must be understood and respected. Bus regulations are controlled by the CHP, DMV, Title 13, and Title 5.

1) - The bus driver will talk with the student, identify the problem, and request cooperation.

2) - If the misbehavior continues, the driver will refer the student to the principal. The principal will contact the parents.

3) - If the second consequence is not effective and the misbehavior continues, the student rider will be off the bus for a school week (5 days)

Severe Bus Behavior Consequences

The student will see the principal immediately and will be off the bus for a school week (5days). Parents will be notified. If bus misbehavior is chronic, a student may be denied riding privileges for longer periods, up to the remainder of the school year. Certain acts or behavior constitute grounds for suspension or possible expulsion from school as an additional consequence.

Severe misbehavior on the school bus includes:

1) - Defiance of the valid authority of the driver. The driver is the final authority in all matters regarding safe operation of the vehicle.

2) - Smoking of any type (including the lighting of a match or lighter).

3) - Fighting (striking another student with hands, feet, or object), "play fighting," or "horseplay."

4) - Possession or use of firecrackers or explosives of any type (or any other dangerous or damaging items of no practical purpose on the bus).

5) - Vandalism or property damage of any type.

The district needs your cooperation and the cooperation of each rider in the enforcement of these rules. Their main purpose is to allow the driver to devote his or her full attention to driving, not discipline.
