Dear Loma Parents:
Thoughts from Tuesday Night
I am delighted to share the news that Mrs. Kristi Grasty has been appointed as the new Principal of Los Gatos High School. Why is this good news for Loma Prieta? Because, Mrs. Grasty has been a leader in strengthening the partnership between our schools and LGHS. Mrs. Grasty has a highly collaborative style and has been a strong advocate for mountain kids for many years. She is a proven innovator bringing both the CASSY counseling program and the New Tech High academy style of instruction to LGHS in recent years.
For those of you who don’t know her yet, you will find her to be warm, thoughtful, committed to academic excellence and putting students first. Bob Mistele, Superintendent of the Los Gatos-Saratoga High School District, notes, “I have worked with Kristi since I joined the district in 2007. Her heart, spirit, insight and dedication to the students and staff of Los Gatos High, the community and the district as a whole are unparalleled. She’s a thinker and a doer; she sees the big picture and the individual students and their needs. I have enjoyed and am looking forward to working with her, making good things happen for kids.”
We are happy that Los Gatos High School was able to retain and promote a committed leader and advocate for students. This is a great day for us as well as Los Gatos High.
Sincerely,
Corey Kidwell
Superintendent/Principal
Planning Ahead
Next Friday, October 30th is a minimum day at both schools. All students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. Pack your child extra snacks since we will not have lunch recess.
Though our school calendar follows the attendance calendar of Los Gatos High School in many ways, we will end our school year on different dates in 2016. Los Gatos High School ends their school year on Thursday, June 2nd while our last day is June 8, 2016.
Loma Home & School Club
Boo Bash Fun
It has been called the Halloween Carnival, Trunk or Treat, and Boo Bash. No matter how you say it, the annual pre-Halloween celebration for kids of all ages is a lot of fun! The Loma Home and School Club needs more volunteers to run the event this Saturday, October 24th. Volunteer time slots are short and sweet. Please see the attached flyer for details. Please sign up to volunteer now at: http://vols.pt/RtSK17. Without volunteers, this event cannot take place.
Lost and Found
Please continue checking the lost and found outside the Loma office. There are still lots of jackets, sweaters, water bottles, etc., still needing to be claimed.
