Thoughts from Tuesday Night – A Labor Day Labor of Love!
Dear Loma Parents and Guardians:
It took a mountain! For as long as CT English has needed grass, so has our Kindergarten area. In a true seize the day mountain moment, a small window of opportunity turned into a big win for our youngest students. Thank you so much to all the school and community volunteers who worked with staff to make grass for Kinder happen this weekend. We had a small amount of sod left over from the fire zone project. Tom Levenhagen proposed launching a quick action “adventure in landscaping” to use the sod before it died. We put out a call on Wednesday night at Loma’s Back-to-School Night, Tom and his team mobilized for a Labor Day weekend of labor, and parents rallied resources. Heavy equipment tore out the slab, dirt was delivered, the land was primed, and out the sod rolled! Thank you to our amazing facilities team for working the weekend, the Kinder teachers for getting the word out, the many parents, teachers, staff and kids who rolled up their sleeves to get it done, and the donations of equipment and time to make it happen on a very lean budget. Pictures are worth a thousand words! Enjoy!Loma News
