Thoughts from Tuesday Night
Dear CT and Loma Families:
“Globaloria is a manifestation of the future of education. Its iterative design methods foster soft skills like teamwork, communication, and collaborative creative thinking, contributes to students’ well-rounded education,” said Dr. Idit Harel, CEO and founder of Globaloria. “As we prepare students for a new global economy where computer science and computational skills are the new literacy, the Globeys are an opportunity to celebrate outstanding achievement in these areas among this group of exceptional students.”
CT students were well represented in the competition overall with Sofia Rossi, Anna Leith, Maciej Buszko, Glenn Grant-Richards, and Spencer Farley also earning Regional Semi-Finalist honors. Anna, Maciej, and Daniel all moved on to regionals, with Daniel taking national honors. He will be traveling to Austin, Texas this weekend for an opportunity to meet with leaders in education and STEM fields as well as participation in the awards ceremony. Mrs. Denues began introducing coding to the CT tech curriculum a number of years ago and last year we invested in the Globoloria platform to engage students in computer science curriculum, and enhance STEM learning topics in our elective offerings.
Congratulations to Daniel and his fellow CT students who showed both interest and enthusiasm for the coding content! I would also like to thank Mrs. Denues who’s vision and persistence in expanding elective offerings at CT English has led to this opportunity for our students.
WE NEED YOU!
Our incredible fund raising partner, LPEF, is looking to the school and extended community for additional donations to be included in the live and silent auction baskets. Do you have businesses (salons, pet stores, toy stores, housewares, etc.) where you shop? Often these business owners are happy to donate materials, goods or gift certificates which make great additions to auction baskets. Do you have duplicates of gifts given for showers, birthdays or other occasions? If so, LPEF would gladly include those gift items in silent auction baskets. The more baskets we fill, the more fun our kids get to have. Please know that this fundraiser is our largest of the year and will fund the enrichment and elective options we have available to us in the future. Please contact the team at email@example.com for more information or where to deliver your donations. Please see the flyer posted below.
