    Thoughts from Tuesday Night

    Dear Loma Families:

Once again, this year’s Gala was one to remember!  From the music, to the food, to the incredible venue that is Maison du Lac, all the details came together beautifully.  Beyond the logistics of an event for 400 was the amazing heart of the parents and extended community that came together to celebrate our schools and keep our schools strong.

Ben Abeln, in his first Gala as LPEF President, and the entire LPEF crew hosted an outstanding event that highlighted the best of our schools and our community.  Your generosity as donors is unparalleled.  Thank you all for an amazing night of celebration of our schools, our kids, and our mountain.  Thank you Patti Hughes for being who you are – our rock.  Your welcoming all of us into your home with graciousness and style is a model of mountain citizenship for us all.

I know that no one on the mountain volunteers, donates, or sponsors events for our school for the “glory and mass appreciation” that comes with all the effort, and if I tried to list all the names, I would miss many.  I do want to thank our Gala Chairs who took the lead and lion’s share of the stress in making the Gala happen.  Joni Thomas, Charlotte Khandelwal, Lila Jones-Turkalj, Lindsey Winter and Danielle Garvey worked countless hours, gave up family time, and brought an incredible sense of purpose, enthusiasm, and team spirit to the effort.  Of course, our generous sponsors help make the event more financially beneficial for our kids.  Rebecca Smith and Karen Izzo from the Sereno Group, Mark Smith from Victoria Capital Mortgage, Johnathan Tal of Tal Global, Scott Green from Alain Pinel Realtors, Jill and Nancy Cole of Coldwell Banker, along with The Carlo Law Group and Young Naturopathic Center for Wellness have our deepest thanks for their financial support of the Gala.  Without the leadership and financial backing of this team, the Gala would not be the foundational fundraising event that it is.  Thank you!

To the legion of volunteers, room parents, teachers, parents, grandparents, alumni parents, high school students, and countless donors who make this annual celebration possible – thank you from the bottom of our collective heart.  You care so much, work so hard, and give so generously in many ways so that our small school district may continue to produce big league results.  Your dedication ensures that our kids grow and thrive right here on our mountain.

    Sincerely,

    Corey Kidwell

    Superintendent/Principal

    Love Your School Library!

The best way to show your love for our libraries is to volunteer some time for the upcoming Book Fair.  This annual event benefits BOTH Loma and CT libraries so please consider helping out between Nov. 4-14th.  You can help with set up, tear down, in class, in the fair, or behind the scenes.  You can check out the attached flyer or sign up at https://volunteer.scholastic.com/#/signup/5rMnVEGAB  For any questions, please contact: Nicole Fichthorn:  lomalibrarian@loma.k12.ca.us

    Picture Day is Coming!

The fall tradition is upon us. Mark your calendars now for picture day at both schools on Monday, October 17th. It’s a Monday so it will be easy to miss. All students will have their photos taken for school records and you will have the opportunity to purchase photos as well. Please return the photo envelope to your child’s teacher on Monday.
