    Thoughts from Tuesday Night

    Dear Loma/CT Families:

Reduce Clutter and Raise Funds for Home and School Clubs

It doesn’t happen often anymore that a new fundraiser comes along that we haven’t seen in our schools.  We’ve been sipping, shopping, wrapping, reading, jogging, and so much more!  But, here is a wonderful new twist on fundraising for our Home and School Clubs – pack a Goodwill truck!  I am so excited!  If we can fill a Goodwill truck, our HSC teams will share $1200.00.  You don’t have to buy a thing!  Just clear out the stuff you have been meaning to take down the hill and bring it to the North Campus (by Building Blocks) between 9 and 4 on Sunday or Monday, December 11th – 12th.  There is a flyer attached with more details.  Please join me in helping our Home and School Clubs do

    Bring Back the Band

The music program at Loma Prieta Elementary and CT English Middle School is being revitalized!  We have a great music teacher who is literally putting the band back together!  We are in need of gently used flutes, clarinets, trumpets and trombones that are, or were last you checked, in good working order.  If you have a musical instrument to donate, we would love the chance to match your donation with an emerging musician.  For more information, please contact Casey Lelake at c.lelake@loma.k12.ca.us or Corey Kidwell at c.kidwell@loma.k12.ca.us.  We promise you free tickets to the first concert!  Heck, we will throw in a lifetime pass!

Girls on the Run Registration Opens

The Girls on the Run (GOTR) lottery registration is this weekend Dec 3-5!  GOTR is a life-changing, after-school program for girls in 3rd-5th grades. Girls learn life skills such as healthy decision-making, teamwork and confidence while training to complete a 5K! Check out the flyer for more information.

    Second Harvest Canned Food Drive

The CT English Leo’s Club will be holding a canned food drive until Friday 12/9.  Loma families are welcome to participate as well by bringing donations to the CT office.  For CT students, every first period classroom will have a box for your contributions.  If you are unsure of what to donate, canned meals like soups and stews, tuna, peanut butter, canned fruits, low-sodium veggies, olive and canola oil, healthy snacks like granola bars and dried fruit, and even spices are great options.  Please do not bring any soda or candy.  Also please don’t bring any items packaged in glass.  At the end of each week we will add up the amount of donations by grade.  The grade with the most donations will receive a prize.  The first week, the winning grade will get to be the first grade to sit on the new grass at lunchtime.  The following week’s prize is to get out 5 minutes early to escape the long lunch lines.  The third and final week, the winning grade gets to have extra time at lunch recess.
