Dear Loma Parents/Guardians:
Tonight! (Not Thursday) Please join us for a discussion about our facilities future.
The Board will be hearing from the community on the most critical facility needs for our future and how to consider paying for those investments. We need your input. The Board meeting begins at 7:00 PM in the Loma Forum.
Attention Loma Parents – Parent-Teacher Conferences Next Week – Early Dismissal
You should have already received your parent conference date and time for your Loma child(ren). Conferences run Monday through Friday (11/13-11/17) with Loma only dismissing at 12:30 each day. Please remember to pack plentiful snacks as there will be no lunch period all week. The campus is closed until 4:00 pm so that conferences can occur without distraction. These conference times are extremely important opportunities for you to get feedback on your child’s progress and successes. Teachers will be interested in hearing from you how the year has begun for your child. As a convenience, teachers have worked to schedule sibling conferences close to one another to alleviate multiple trips to school for parents. Also, please know that conferences are approximated 20 minutes each. Your respecting the time allowed is appreciated by the teacher and the parents who are scheduled after you. Of course, you can always ask for additional meeting time after parent conference week. It is helpful if you have your questions ready ahead of time. Your child’s teacher will go over the first trimester report card with you and share their first term insights. Thank you in advance for your partnership in building a solid educational foundation for your child at Loma Prieta.

Attention 8th Grade Parents!
Your 8th grader will be receiving enrollment materials for Los Gatos High School early next week. Yep! Next week! Please be sure to ask your student for the Freshmen Enrollment Packets for Los Gatos High School for Fall 2018. The on line portion needs to be completed and all forms returned to the CT Office by 12/5. Please note that there will be important dates included in the packet. Please look for that calendar and make note of the deadlines and orientation events. These are scheduled by the high school and are not flexible locally. Don’t miss out! If your child is not planning on attending LGHS, please indicate that on the forms you return to the office. (I’m just giving you a heads up that this might be a good time to start looking for your favorite 3-5 pictures for the graduation slide show. Time goes by very fast from here on out.)
Screenagers – Save the Date
The Loma Prieta School Site Council is pleased to host a viewing of “Screenagers,” the award-winning documentary by physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston. “Screenagers” highlights the impact of screen time and its effects on teens and their families. Current struggles related to social media, video games, academics and the Internet are addressed. The film provides solid information and food for thought stimulating viewers to raise questions and engage in dialogue that will help inform their choices around managing screen time in their lives.
