    Dear Loma Families

    Thoughts from Tuesday Night

    Happy Spring Break

Wow, we are here already!  For those of you traveling next week, be safe and travel well!  To all of you, wherever next week leads you, please remember that time is our most precious resource. Memories created with your kids and family will last a lifetime.  You don’t need to go far to share a laugh, an adventure, or a simple joy.  Happy Spring Break!

    Spring Concert

A year ago, we got the first glimpse of what a music program could add to our schools.  Thursday night we will have our first annual (at least in a very, very long time) Spring Concert featuring our K-8 students.  The show will be an amazing showcase of talent, creativity, not to mention hard work and perseverance.  Please join us Thursday at 7:00 pm in the gym for this wonderful event.  Our performers will need to arrive NO LATER than 6:50 pm and be seated with their classes before the show. Parking will be at a premium so arrive early!  Thank you to our kids and teachers, and especially to our amazing Music teacher Casey Lelake, for bringing this event to life.  Thank you to our KEEP donors for the extra funding last year that saved our fledgling music program and allowed all students to benefit from music in our schools.

    Superintendent Search Survey

The search for a new Superintendent will be stronger with your input.  Please plan to take the survey available here: Superintendent Search Input Survey

The survey will be available for input through noon on April 13th.  We appreciate your time and perspective. All the input given from parent, community and staff focus groups, and interviews will be offered to the Board in a systematic manner.  This will be used to create a leadership profile and ultimately guide the Board in their selection. The leadership profile will be presented to the Board at the meeting of April 18, 2018.  We know our parents and broader community stakeholders care deeply about our schools and our future.  Please join us in helping shape the next era of excellence in Loma Prieta.

    Enjoy Spring Break!

    Loma News

    Jogathon News

Thanks to everyone who attended the Jogathon Kickoff Assembly last Friday! We were honored to have Bethany Zummo, a Paralympic Gold Medalist, come out and speak to our school community. In addition to speaking about her disability, sport and athletic achievements, Bethany also played sit volleyball with audience members – it was a lot of fun! Special thank you to Ms. Kidwell for arranging our speaker this year.

The Home and School Club is looking forward to the 31st Annual Jogathon, May 4, 2018. This event is the Home and School Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year. We love the Jogathon because it not only brings our school community together to show school spirit and celebrate fitness, but also because it’s so much fun.

Printed pledge sheets have been distributed and are also available in the Loma Office. The pledge sheet is also available for download on the HSC website: http://www.lomaprietahsc.org/jogathon

Students MUST turn in the permission form (also on the pledge sheet) by Wednesday, May 2. Students will not be able to participate in the Jogathon unless the permission form has been received.

If you are paying for your pledges with PayPal or a check, please remember to put your student’s name in the notes section. If paying with cash, put your pledge in an envelope with your student’s name and “jogathon” written on the envelope. This will help us greatly with keeping track of pledges.

On Jogathon day, the HSC will have jogathon tee shirts, breakfast burritos (donated by the Madrigal family), other breakfast items, and coffee for sale. Kona Ice will once again be here.

    We need your help!

We are in need of volunteers to help with food sales, set up, clean up, and a variety of jobs to make the jogathon a success. Many of the opportunities will only require 30 minutes and can be accommodated while enjoying the fun. The sign up link is available here: www.signupgenius.com/go/10C084EAAA82EA1F85-jogathon
