News for Aug. 29, 2018
Dear Loma and CT Families,
Last week I wrote about setting new routines in your home. We have also been busy at both schools reestablishing behavior norms and expectations. At CT, students have been going over the handbook with their teachers to learn and revisit the rules that keep our students safe and ready to learn. This week at Loma, I will be visiting each classroom to teach students about the Loma school rules. I have included a copy of our school-wide discipline policy below. Teachers have long found that when we take the time at the beginning of the year to explicitly set the standards for behavior, learning time can be maximized for the rest of the year. Please take the time to review the school rules with your child at home.
My Top 3 Moments of the Week...
- Running into a future architect/engineer and 1st grader as he added a second story to his “Bug House.” Wow! What can be accomplished with paper and a little tape!
- Having an impromptu drawing lesson taught by a couple of third grade girls during snack time. I now know how to draw those fancy animal eyes!
- Watching a pair of budding thespians from Mrs. Hulewat’s Performing Arts class in serious discussion around their scripts.
Back to School Night at Loma- Tonight!
This year teacher presentations will be staggered by grade level with important information relevant to all parents presented in between. We will start promptly at 6:30 pm in the amphitheater behind the forum. Please come on time so you don’t miss your child/rens’ classroom presentation. This is a parents-only event. Come on time and come early for parking! The lower baseball field on the north campus will be open for parking tonight.
Back to School Night at CT (9/4)
Please pick up your child’s class schedule as you enter the CT courtyard promptly at 6:30. Parents will rotate through each of their children’s classes hearing short presentations from each teacher. This is a parent-only event. Come on time and come early for parking! The lower baseball field on the north campus will be open for parking.
CT Beach Day!
This Friday is one of our two annual trips to the beach with the middle school students. This is a long-standing tradition that builds bonds between students and teachers. There are paid lifeguards on duty at all times. We encourage kids to bring plenty of sunscreen and snacks. If your child has any outstanding forms, please turn them in by THIS Thursday so that your kids can participate. No forms, no Beach Day!

The framing of wing A and wing B has been moving forward with wing A currently 75% walled up and wing B at 65% walled up. The interior walls are scheduled to start being framed on Friday the 31st. Rough-in plumbing and electrical is getting installed as the framing is erected and we are on target to have the building water tight in October. We are currently 124 days into construction with no lost day’s due to adverse weather and have had 0 injuries on this project.
