Dear Loma Families,
Halloween is just around the corner, and I wanted to share some important information as the big day draws near. We ask that students wear school-age appropriate costumes, and remember, no prop weapons of any kind. Also, extremely gory or violent costumes will not be permitted. When in doubt, consult your child’s teacher.
Loma will have their annual Halloween Parade on October 31stat 8:45 on the blacktop. Families are welcome to join us for the fun. Kids should wear their costumes to school. I recommend sending a change of clothes, as most kids will want to change after the parade.
CT will have a costume contest followed by Halloween activities from 11:30 to 12:30. Kids should come to school in their regular clothes. They will be given time to change into their costumes before the festivities. No face paint.
My Top Three Moments of the Week
- Learning how to find the slope of a line with Ms. Nefian’s algebra class.
- Being taught to “floss” by a group of first and second graders.I’m going to need a follow-up lesson for sure!
- Seeing the excitement as Coach’s Lunch Bunch Flag Football teams get their jerseys! (see photo below). A big Thank You to the Plautz Family for donating the jerseys.

Paul’s Construction Corner
Our reconstruction project is continuously moving forward. Wing A’s roof is being installed and expected to be completed 10/31. The window installation is also underway for that wing. The canopy that will run along the front of the two buildings and into the entry of the gym is currently getting framed, unfortunately six of the post were maufactured incorrectly and will have to be sent back to be fixed. The doors have arrived and the exterior doors are getting installed. The stucco contractor started lathing the lower sections of the buildings.
Wing B is in the final stages of its framing and is expected to be completed by 10/26. We are pushing to have the buildings water tight before the first significant rain storm. As the days get colder, it’s a reminder that the winter is approaching.
We now are currently 180 days into construction and have had zero injuries during this project.
