    Dear Loma and CT Families,

Halloween is just around the corner, and I wanted to share some important information as the big day draws near. We ask that students wear school-age appropriate costumes. Remember, no prop weapons of any kind. Also, extremely gory or violent costumes will not be permitted. When in doubt, consult your child’s teacher.

Loma will have its annual Halloween Parade on October 31st at 8:45 on the blacktop. Families are welcome to join us for the fun. Kids should wear their costumes to school. I recommend sending a change of clothes, as most kids will want to change after the parade.

CT will have a costume contest followed by Halloween activities from 11:30 to 12:30 on the 31st. Kids should come to school in their regular clothes. They will be given time to change into their costumes before the festivities. No face paint.

My Top Three Moments of the Week

    1. Learning how to find the slope of a line with Ms. Nefian’s algebra class.
    2. Being taught to “floss” by a group of first and second graders. I’m going to need follow-up lessons for sure!
    3. Seeing the excitement as Coach’s Lunch Bunch teams got their jerseys! (see photo below)

    Sincerely,

    Construction Corner

Our reconstruction project is continuously moving forward. Wing A’s roof has begun to be installed and expected to be complete on 10/31/18. The window installation is underway on Wing A. The canopy that will run along the front of the two buildings and into the entry of the gym is currently getting framed, unfortunately six of the post were manufactured incorrect and will have to be sent back to the manufacturer to be fixed. The doors have arrived and the exterior doors are getting installed. The stucco contractor has started lathing the lower sections of the buildings. Wing B is in the final stages of its framing and expected to be complete by 10/26/18. We are pushing to have the buildings watertight before the first significant rainstorm; it is a constant reminder, as the days get colder that the winter months are approaching us. We now are currently 180 days into construction and have had zero injuries during this project.

    Thank you,
