    Dear Loma Families,

Welcome back! I hope you all had a fun and relaxing Thanksgiving break.  I would like to extend a huge “thank you” to our Home and School Clubs at both Loma and CT for providing us with such wonderful teacher appreciation lunches. Everything was delicious—what a treat! The teachers and staff feel so grateful for our supportive parent community.

Important! 2nd Grade Field Trip Change of Venue

Due to rain, the 2nd grade field trip to Natural Bridges will be moved to the Seymour Marine Discovery Center.  2nd grade parents: please let your child’s teacher know by Thursday (11/29) at 7:30am if you do NOT give permission for your child to participate in this adjusted activity!

    Chess Club

Do you love to play chess?  Would you like to bring your enthusiasm for the game to an eager group of Loma students? Let me know!  I am looking to create a lunchtime chess club, but I need to find an adult to take the lead.  Let me know if you are interested! I can guarantee fun!

    Flu Season

Just a reminder that if your child is not feeling well, please keep them home. If your child was sent home with a fever, they must be fever free, without medication, for 24 hours before they may return to school. The holidays are fast approaching, and we all want to stay healthy.

My Top Three Moments of the Week

    1. Greeting a sleepy-looking group of kids as school resumed on Monday morning.
    2. Coming back to school to find the trees bright with fall colors.
    3. Watching Coach Patino’s PE classes do yoga on this rainy Wednesday morning.

    Paul’s Construction Update

Our reconstruction project is continuously moving forward. Wing A’s roof is completed and is water tight, as is with Wing B. The 1st phase of finished concrete has started and will consist of the area between Wing B and the gym. The concrete is scheduled to be poured 11/29. This will affect access to the gym, the students and community will be directed to the rear doors of the gym while this work is being done.

The second coat of stucco was applied to Wing A and was completed 11/21. The finish coat will then be applied and should be completed by 11/28.

Wing B’s windows are installed and the rough electrical, plumbing, and mechanical were inspected. Insulation and sheet rock are being installed in areas where it will not interfere with other work being done.

During the past three months, we have averaged 40 workers on site daily. This has impacted parking for parents. The district and contractors appreciate your patience as we try to move quickly through this project.

We are now 208 into construction and have had zero injuries.

    Loma HSC News

Who doesn't know or love Patty Smrt, our very own one of a kind bus driver and Transportation Director! Patty lost her retirement home and everything in it to the Paradise/Camp Fire. She was just 2.5 years short of retiring; putting in 3 years of spending every spare moment and funds they had repairing it in preparation for that big moment.

The Loma Home and School Club has set up a GoFundMe to help Patty recoup from this devastation. We know holidays are times of more expenses, but they are also a time for giving, and no one more than Patty would be worthy of our Mountain Giving and Love. After all, she’s been giving her all to our mountain kids for over 30 years. Let's return the favor in earnest.

Please consider donating ANY AMOUNT by clicking this link. It includes more details on the sad event as well as pictures...   (https://www.gofundme.com/help-for-patty-smrt-and-family/ ).

    MANY THANKS!!

    Theatre in the Mountains

Attention 1st and 2nd grade parents. Come February, we will begin auditions for Sleeping Beauty Kids. We need a producer or two or take the lead. No experience required! You will have full support from the Theatre in the Mountains Steering Committee and guidance from past producers. Please join our leadership team. Without a producer, the show cannot happen. Work full time? Have other children? Not a problem! You do NOT need to be at every rehearsal. The role of Producer is to keep things moving along, so, if you are organized and can delegate, you can play a vital role in bringing this performance to life. Please contact Nicole Gomez at gomezmama@yahoo.com.
