    Dear Loma Families,

My Top Three Moments of the Week

    1. Hearing the interesting and insightful questions from 3rd through 5th graders at the Yellow Balloon assembly. I think we have quite a few future authors in our midst!
    2. Enjoying the sweet voices of our 2nd graders signing, “What a wonderful World” for Earth Day at Friday’s Student of the Week Assembly.
    3. Watching my first Turkey Trot (AKA Rabbit Run). What a fun event!

    Scoliosis Screening (May 9th)

Stanford Children’s Health Children’s Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center will conduct scoliosis screening for our 5th through 8th grade students on Thursday, May 9. The screening takes about 1 minute per students and should have very little effect on the schedule for the day. Please see the attached flyer for more details. Our thanks to Linda Hopkins, Loma and CT Health and Safety Clerk, for arranging this important screening. If you would prefer that your child does not undergo this screening, the third page of the attached flyer should be completed and returned to your child’s classroom teacher/first period teacher.

    2019-20 New Student Registration Information

Registration is open for new student joining Loma Prieta Elementary and CT English Middle in the 2019-20 school year.  To register your child, please use this link: https://www.loma.k12.ca.us/site/Default.aspx?PageID=1896

    Paul’s Construction Corner

Our reconstruction project is continuously moving forward. The striping for the driving lanes and parking spaces in the new parking area is complete. New instructions for drop off, pick up, and parking have been sent out to identify where busses will park and the flow of traffic for parents. Having students take the school bus, or park on the North side of Summit Road and use the pedestrian bridge would still be preferred.

The pedestrian bridge which was built in 1996, no longer meets ADA accessibility requirements. The concrete ramp leading from the North field up to the bridge will need to be corrected. The Garden Terrace behind the gym will also need to be brought up to today’s standards, but, due to its construction, it will not require much work to pass its final close out inspection.

The District is working to create a kiln room on the East side of the gym and remove the rotting wooden siding and replace it with stucco to match the rest of the buildings. Construction on these projects will get performed over the summer.

While we have been working on the reconstruction project of the kitchen and classrooms, the district has been working on other projects.  Asbestos remediation and demolition of the old IHS and day care buildings on the North Campus is now complete.  This project is the first of many projects that you will see completed in accordance with the 10-year Facilities Master Plan. The District apologizes for an inconvenience this project may create.

    Spring Picture Day

Mark your calendars for April 30th. Students will have their picture taken outside. See attached flyer for more information.
