    Dear Loma and CT Families,

My Top Three Moments of the Week

1.Hearing the interesting and insightful questions from 3rd-5th graders at the Yellow Balloon assembly. I think we have quite a few future authors in our midst!

    1. Enjoying the sweet voices of our 2nd graders singing “What a Wonderful World” for Earth Day at Friday’s Student of the Week Assembly.
    2. Watching my first Turkey Trot (a.k.a Rabbit Run). What a fun event!

CT Students and the Loma Jog-a-thon

If you would like your CT student to watch their Loma siblings run in the Loma jog-a-thon please fill out the attached permission slip and return to the CT office no later than 3pm on Wed. 5/1/19.

8th Grade Parents – We Need Your Photos!

We have begun our graduation prep. Please start looking for 3-5 digital photos of your kids that you would like included in our pre-graduation slide show. The photos can be of any age, at school, home, anywhere.  Our slide show plays before the ceremony begins. Please send the photos to Mrs. Denues at k.denues@loma.k12.ca.us for inclusion in the showcase. The deadline for submission is May 17th. Don’t have your child be left out!

    Scoliosis Screening (May 9th)

Stanford Children’s Health Children’s Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center will conduct scoliosis screening for our 5th through 8th grade students on Thursday, May 9. The screening takes about 1 minute per students and should have very little effect on the schedule for the day. Our thanks go to Linda Hopkins, Loma and CT Health and Safety Clerk, for arranging this important screening. If you would prefer that your child does not undergo this screening, the third page of the attached flyer should be completed and returned to your child’s classroom teacher/first period teacher. Please see the attached flyer for more details.

    Paul’s Construction Corner

Our reconstruction project is continuously moving forward. The striping for the driving lanes and parking spaces in the new parking area is complete. New instructions for drop off, pick up, and parking have been sent out to identify where busses will park and the flow of traffic for parents. Having students take the school bus, or park on the North side of Summit Road and use the pedestrian bridge would still be preferred.

The pedestrian bridge built in 1996, no longer meets ADA accessibility requirements. The concrete ramp leading from the North field up to the bridge will need to be corrected. The Garden Terrace behind the gym will also need to be brought up to today’s standards, but, due to its construction, it will not require much work to pass its final close out inspection.

The District is working to create a kiln room on the East side of the gym, and remove the rotting wooden siding and replace it with stucco to match the rest of the buildings. Construction on these projects will get performed over the summer.

While we have been working on the reconstruction project of the kitchen and classrooms, the district has been working on other projects.  Asbestos remediation and demolition of the old IHS and day care buildings on the North Campus is now complete.  This project is the first of many projects that you will see completed in accordance with the 10-year Facilities Master Plan. The District apologizes for an inconvenience this project may have created.

    Thank you,

    Paul Harville

KEEP! on Keeping On & Upcoming LPEF Events

    KEEP! Funding Update

Our goal for this years KEEP! (Keep Excellent Education Programs) campaign is $200,000. To date we have raised only 6% of that goal. We are excited to see this number increase so our kids continue to have access to amazing programs (Art & Music, Physical Education, Library Services and Technology Programs). Our goal by next week is to be at 10% of our goal. We know we can do that with your support. We encourage you to make a donation of any size you are comfortable with at https://www.lpef.org/donate-now.

The 8th-grade Grad Party is Back!

After a couple year hiatus, the annual CTE 8th-grade graduation party is going to be held on campus once again.

Mark your student's calendar for the evening of June 1, and keep a lookout for more details yet to come. This is a parent-led effort, so please join us at the next Grad Party planning meeting May 1, 7-8pm, in the TCC, the Temp. Community Center, which is the back portable to the right of Building Blocks (across the road from the main campus). The event requires a lot of parent support, so please join us to learn how you can get involved! Any questions, contact Amy at korbstuff@aol.com.
