Dear Loma Families,
My Top Three Moments of the Week
- Feeling pampered on Spa Day! Thank you to our amazing Home and School Clubs for making us all feel so appreciated.
- Congratulating our Certificated and Classified Employees of the Year: Wendy Grant-Richards and Lisa Sullivan! Their dedication to our kids is exemplary!
- Seeing our fabulous 1st and 2nd grade actors in the Theater in the Mountains play, “Sleeping Beauty Jr.”
Spring into Summer Volunteer Appreciation (5/15)
We would like to thank all our amazing volunteers by welcoming you to join us at our annual Volunteer Appreciation event! The event will be held on Wednesday, May 15th 12:30-1:30 in the Loma forum (see attachment). There will be entertainment, snacks, and fun! Thank you for helping us SHINE!
No East Bus (5/17)
Unfortunately, the East Bus will NOT run on the afternoon of Friday, May 17th. Please reach out to Patty Smrt with questions (firstname.lastname@example.org).
New Kinder Orientation (5/22)
We will be hosting the New Kindergarten Orientation on Wednesday, May 22nd at 2pm (see attached flyer). Parents and guardians are invited to meet the kindergarten teachers and administrative team. We will discuss kindergarten readiness, provide introductory information on what to expect in the Fall, and review typical topics found in the kindergarten curriculum. This is an adult only event.
Scoliosis Screening (May 9th)
Stanford Children’s Health Children’s Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center will conduct scoliosis screening for our 5th through 8th grade students on Thursday, May 9. The screening takes about 1 minute per students and should have very little effect on the schedule for the day. Please see the attached flyer for more details. Our thanks to Linda Hopkins, Loma and CT Health and Safety Clerk, for arranging this important screening. If you would prefer that your child does not undergo this screening, the third page of the attached flyer should be completed and returned to your child’s classroom teacher/first period teacher.
Hope to see you all there to cheer our K-5 runners. As a reminder, if you want your CTer to run with your Loma child/ren, there must be a permission slip on file at CT. Please send extra healthy snacks as there is no lunch break. DISMISSAL IS AT 12:30.
Karren Zook, Principal
Paul’s Construction Corner
The flow of traffic has improved with the new lanes identified for bus parking, C.T English pickup/drop off and Loma pickup/drop off. Thank you for your cooperation.
The District is working to create a kiln room on the East side of the gym and remove the rotting wooden siding and replace it with stucco to match the rest of the buildings. Construction on these projects will get performed over the summer.
While we have been working on the reconstruction project of the kitchen and classrooms, the district has been working on other projects. Asbestos remediation and demolition of the old IHS and day care buildings on the North Campus is now complete. The District will begin considering what to do with the available space. We will be expanding the bus barn area to create more parking and to create more security for the equipment stored in the yard.
