    Dear Loma and CT Families,

My Top Three Moments of the Week

    1. Feeling pampered at Spa Day! Thank you to our amazing Home and School Clubs for making us all feel so appreciated.
    2. Congratulating our Certificated and Classified Employees of the Year: Wendy Grant-Richards and Lisa Sullivan! Their dedication to our kids is exemplary!
    3. Seeing our fabulous 1st and 2nd grade actors in the Theater in the Mountains play, “Sleeping Beauty Jr.”

Cter's at the Loma Jog a thon

For CT students who submitted a permission slip by todays (5/1/19 3pm) deadline,  will be released to come to the CT office and sign themselves out to walk to Loma only for the time their sibling will be running. They will need to return and sign themselves back in within 10 minutes of the end of the race time. If your student did not turn in a permission slip or you want them to stay at Loma, you the parent of the student must come sign them out of school in the CT office.

Spring into Summer Volunteer Appreciation (5/15)

The event will be held on Wednesday, May 15th 12:30-1:30 in the Loma forum (see attachment). There will be entertainment, snacks, and fun! Thank you for helping us SHINE!

Unfortunately, the East Bus will NOT run on the afternoon of Friday, May 17. Please reach out to Patty Smrt with questions (p.smrt@loma.k12.ca.us).

    New Kinder Orientation (5/22)

We will be hosting the New Kindergarten Orientation on Wednesday, May 22 at 2:00 (see attached flyer). Parents and guardians are invited to meet the kindergarten teachers and administrative team. We will discuss kindergarten readiness, provide introductory information on what to expect in the Fall, and the review typical topics found in the kindergarten curriculum. This is an adult only event.

8th Grade Parents – We Need Your Photos!

We have begun our graduation prep.  Please start looking for 3-5 digital photos of your kids that you would like included in our pre-graduation slide shows.  The photos can be of any age, at school, home, anywhere.  Our slide shows plays before the ceremony begins.  Please send the photos to Mrs. Denues at k.denues@loma.k12.ca.us for inclusion in the showcase.  The deadline for submission is May 17th. Don’t have your child be left out!

    Scoliosis Screening (May 9th)

Stanford Children’s Health Children’s Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center will conduct scoliosis screening for our 5th through 8th grade students on Thursday, May 9. The screening takes about 1 minute per students and should have very little effect on the schedule for the day. Please see the attached flyer for more details. Our thanks to Linda Hopkins, Loma and CT Health and Safety Clerk, for arranging this important screening. If you would prefer that your child does not undergo this screening, the third page of the attached flyer should be completed and returned to your child’s classroom teacher/first period teacher.

    Paul’s Construction Corner

The flow of traffic has improved with the new lanes identified for bus parking, C.T English pickup/drop off and Loma pickup/drop off. Thank you for your cooperation.

The District is working to create a kiln room on the East side of the gym and remove the rotting wooden siding and replace it with stucco to match the rest of the buildings. Construction on these projects will get performed over the summer.

While we have been working on the reconstruction project of the kitchen and classrooms, the district has been working on other projects.  Asbestos remediation and demolition of the old IHS and day care buildings on the North Campus is now complete. The District will begin considering what to do with the available space. We will be expanding the bus barn area to create more parking and to create more security for the equipment stored in the yard.

    Thank you,
