    Dear Loma and CT Families,

My Top 3 Moments of the Week...

    1. Singing the hippopotamus song with Mrs. Bowen and her “Bears” at the Friday assembly.
    2. Collaborating with our amazing staff around building developmental assets for kids, with the amazing, Clay Roberts.
    3. Watching a smooth and safe drop-off on Tuesday morning, despite our bridge closure. Thanks to everyone for keeping our kids safe!

    Pedestrian Bridge Closure Considerations

    • The bridge and path will be closed from 10/7-12/2.
    • Consider putting your child/children on the bus to avoid parking lot delays and congestion.
    • Families are encouraged to drop-off/pick-up in the school parking lot during this period of construction, or better yet, use the bus.
    • Though it is still allowed, we strongly discourage Friday walks to Summit Store during construction.
    • Please remember to be patient, polite, and alert while in the parking lot. Safety first!

    Potential PG&E Power Outage

We are aware of a possible PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff, which may occur starting Wednesday due to weather conditions. We have been notified by PG&E that this temporary outage may impact our mountain schools.

Please be assured we have specific plans and procedures in place to prepare for this outage, should it occur. Loma Prieta JUSD has a generator, which will power our school facilities without interruptions to our telephone and Internet systems in the majority of classroom spaces.

In the event that we lose power, we will continue to operate a normal school day and schedule. Due to the logistics of operating our generator, we are limited to running it between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. We will be notifying programs that operate after 3:00 p.m. that they should expect not to have power such that they can plan accordingly. Should there be any unanticipated change in this planning, you will receive further notice from the LPJUSD administration.

For more information about the outage, please contact PGE.com.

    Sincerely,

    Karren Zook, Principal
