Dear CT and Loma Families,
My Top 3 Moments of the Week...
- Cheering on our CT wrestlers at last week’s tri-meet against Union and Fisher. How exciting!
- Learning about area models with Ms. Zanotto’s class. I wish I’d learned double- digit multiplication in such an engaging way!
- Spending a fun morning learning with Mrs. Ramsay’s class. What a thoughtful and hard-working group of learners!
Loma Parents – Parent-Teacher Conferences– Early Dismissal
You should have already received your parent conference date and time for your Loma child(ren). Conferences run Monday through Friday (11/18-11/22) with Loma only dismissing at 12:30 each day. Please remember to pack plentiful snacks as there will be no lunch period all week. The campus is closed until 4:00 pm so that conferences can occur without distraction. These conference times are extremely important opportunities for you to get feedback on your child’s progress and successes. Teachers will be interested in hearing from you how the year has begun for your child. As a convenience, teachers have worked to schedule sibling conferences close to one another to alleviate multiple trips to school for parents. Also, please know that conferences are approximated 20 minutes each. The teacher and the parents who are scheduled after you appreciate your respecting the time allowed. Of course, you can always ask for additional meeting time after parent conference week. It is helpful if you have your questions ready ahead of time. Your child’s teacher will go over the first trimester report card with you and share their first term insights. Thank you in advance for your partnership in building a solid educational foundation for your child at Loma Prieta.
Come See Our Garden Grow!
The newly refurbished Loma Garden is looking great and we would like to host an “Open Garden” during Parent/Teacher Conferences next week. Please come check and see how hard your child/ren have been working on their new garden space. Feel free to wander through the garden at your leisure before or after your conference. Your student can hopefully take you on a tour and show off some of their favorite new garden plants.
Loma Academic Awards
Loma will be having our first trimester Academic Awards assembly next Friday, November 22nd at 8:30am in the forum. The goal of our Academic Awards is to recognize students for exceptional effort and growth. In grades 3-5, teachers will select one student in writing, and one student in math who has shown outstanding grit, perseverance, growth, and an attention to excellence. Students in grades 1-5 who have met their end of year AR goal will receive awards for their accomplishment. Your child’s teacher will contact you if they will be receiving an award this trimester.
Book Fair Is Coming
Our book fair is fast approaching and we are in need of volunteers to make this a successful event. This is our sole fundraising event for the school libraries with proceeds benefiting both Loma and CTE libraries.
Please consider volunteering. Typically, we are busiest right after school. We will need 5 to 6 volunteers per day. The schedule on the sign-up site is flexible. To sign up, visit the Loma Library webpage or go to: https://volunteer.scholastic.com/#/signup/oqONmyIW8
Book Fair dates are Nov 18th through Nov 21st.
