    Dear Loma and CT Families,

My Top 3 Moments of the Week...

    1. Cheering on our CT runners at the annual Turkey Trot! What a fun event! Thanks to the CT Home and School Club and Ms. Lanovaz for making the Turkey Trot a big success!
    2. Seeing the Theater in the Mountains play, “Annie Jr.” this weekend. My cheeks hurt from smiling so much at all those talented actors!
    3. Hearing Mrs. Bowen’s third graders read their books at their publishing party. I am so proud of all our young authors!

    Book Fair

Don’t forget to check out the Book Fair this week in the Loma library!  It is full of awesome books for both Loma and CT students. The Book Fair is not only a fundraiser for the libraries, but a great way to get a jump-start on your holiday shopping.

    Loma Academic Awards

Loma will be having our first trimester Academic Awards assembly this Friday, November 22th at 8:30am in the forum. The goal of our Academic Awards is to recognize students for exceptional effort and growth. In grades 3-5, teachers will select one student in writing and one student in math who has shown outstanding grit, perseverance, growth and attention to excellence. Students in grades 1-5 who have met their end of year AR goal will receive awards for their accomplishment.  Your child’s teacher will contact you if they will be receiving an award this trimester.

    Come See Our Garden Grow!

The newly refurbished Loma Garden is looking great and we are hosting an “open garden” invitation during parent/teacher conference week. Please come check how hard your children have been working on their new garden space. Feel free to wander through the garden at your leisure before or after your teacher visit. Your child can hopefully take you on a tour and show off some of their favorite new garden plants.

Can you help support our garden program? See the attached “Fall Garden Wishlist”. Send an easy online donation to the HSC Garden Fund at https://www.lomaprietahsc.org/donate

Goodwill Truck Back on the Mountain!

You know what that means! Clear out your closets, your garage and storage units of unwanted items (not garbage please). The Goodwill Truck Fundraiser was a huge success in August bringing in just over $4,100. Let’s make this the best one yet. Bring your stuff and raise money for CTEHSC.

If any students need community service hours, here is your chance! Sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e044fa5ac2ea0f94-december

Calling All Volunteers – Students and Parents!

Your help is needed at CTE Home and School Club’s 27th Annual Loma Prieta Holiday Craft Faire, our largest fundraiser of the year. Volunteers are vital to the success of this festive and fun event.

Students can complete their community service hours during the weekend of December 7th and 8th, with volunteer opportunities available Friday through Sunday in the school gym.

Parent help is also needed with bake sale items, event set up/tear down, food sales and daily clean-up.

Christmas Tree Raffle is back at the Loma Prieta Holiday Craft Faire!

Enter to win a cut-your-own Christmas tree generously donated by Summit Tree Farm or Peacock Tree Farm. Tickets are $5 for one and $20 for five, you do not need to be present to win! TWO winners will be announced each day of the Faire. Print an order form from the pdf in the Wednesday news or from our website and bring to the faire or into the CT office (you do not need to be present to win!):

And so is the Wine Surprise!

Buy a $20 ticket and pull a wrapped bottle from our selection of wines generously donated by our neighbor wineries. Surprise! You won a bottle of…???…for your holiday table! Many bottles are valued at $30 or more.

One final request – please share this event with your friends and family on or off the mountain. Please share our Facebook page on yours:

The Craft Faire raises a significant portion of CTEHSC’s budget each year, allowing us to host fun, healthy events and activities for our middle schoolers.

Centering and Silence (meditation) Continues Every Friday at 8:30 am
Are you an overly busy parent? The Loma Prieta Community Foundation is sponsoring a free weekly meditation series led by Kevin Omi at the temporary community center (portable beside Building Blocks Preschool). We will meet this Friday, skip the Thanksgiving holiday, and continue until December 20.
