Dear Loma and CT Parents and Guardians,

Superintendent’s Budget Advisory Committee – Call for Members!

In accordance with our recently adopted 3-year Strategic Plan, the Loma Prieta Joint Union School District is dedicated to maintaining both financial stability and sustainability. Realistic financial planning for a small, basic aid district such as ours, will require that we establish a financial model with the capability of projecting long-term budget impacts and corresponding strategies for future budget solutions. To this end, I will be convening a new Superintendent’s Budget Advisory Committee in January 2020.

    Purpose:

The purpose of the Budget Advisory Committee (BAC) is to fully understand all of LPJUSD’s financial plans, budgets, investments and funding, as well as a basic understanding of educational financial governance and statute. Based upon this understanding, the BAC will advise the Superintendent on potential financial strategies, practices and/or budgetary actions that help to ensure a sustainable, long-term financial model for the LPJUSD. The BAC will be a working group facilitated by the Superintendent under the direction of the Board of Trustees.

Interested in serving as a member of the Superintendent’s Budget Advisory Committee?

We envision a team of committed individuals representing school/district staff, parents, partner organizations, and community members at large, willing to make a two-year commitment to serving on the committee. Consistent attendance will also be important for continuity.

2019-2020 Meeting Schedule: All meetings will be held at 5:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

                Monday, January 27th

                Tuesday, February 27th

                Monday, March 16th

                Monday, April 20th

Wednesday, May 6th                                        LPJUSD Budget Study Session (6:30 p.m.)

                Monday, May 18th, if needed

If you are interested in being considered for the Superintendent’s Budget Advisory Committee or have question regarding the committee, please email Eileen Bevans-Franks at e.bevans@loma.k12.ca.us no later than Friday, January 17, 2020.

    Thank you.

    Sincerely,

    Lisa Fraser

    Superintendent

    Dear Loma and CT Families,

My Top 3 Moments of the Week...

    1. Seeing all the fancy hairstyles at CT’s Crazy Hair Day on Monday. Ms. Lelake takes the prize with her light-up hairdo!
    2. Watching our Spelling Bee Semi-Finals at Loma. As someone who depends heavily on my computer’s spell check, our young spellers especially impress me!
    3. Listening to three of Mrs. Dufort’s 1st graders spontaneously sing, “Oh Christmas Tree!” What sweet little voices.

Friday, Dec 20th, Minimum Day Schedule – 12:30 Dismissal for BOTH schools!

There will be no lunch at either school.  Please pack a generous snack.  Students will be dismissed directly from class at 12:30 pm.

    LPEF NEWS

THANK YOU TIMES A MILLION FOR A WONDERFUL 2019

Your donations, volunteer hours, and participation throughout 2019 have made it possible for LPEF to deliver on our mission of Excellence in Education - which includes education that extends beyond the core curriculum into programs such as art, music, science, P.E, and more - for Loma Elementary School and C.T. English Middle School students. Your support made it possible for us to keep essential programs and staff at our schools this year.

THANK YOU for showing your commitment by supporting our fundraising efforts in 2019. Whether you gave to our 2019 KEEP! Campaign, donated on #Givingtuesday, or attended LPEF events, we could not have accomplished our work without our amazing partnerships and our wonderful supporters, donors, sponsors, parents, community members, teachers and staff, Loma HSC, CTE HSC, and many more.

When you support LPEF, you have a direct impact on the life of children in our schools. Students at Loma and C.T. English are exposed to a range of diverse offerings - through the programs that you help fund, where they can develop interest and mastery in experiences and learning opportunities that are connected to who they are and who they want to be. In addition, your donations help fund counseling that has shown to have a direct positive impact on student achievement rates.

As this year comes to a close, the LPEF Board would like to wish you and your families very happy and peaceful Holiday season.
