    Dear CTE Families:

The Loma Prieta School Site Council is excited to host Screenagers on Thursday, March 19th at 7pm. Screenagers gives a comprehensive look at the effects of screen time on our youth and some of the statistics are shocking. Please remember this film is not available online so this is a convenient way to get to see this important and informative film.

My Top Three Moments of the Week

    1. Hearing elaborate plans for a leprechaun trap from a very creative and industrious first grader.
    2. Singing “18 Wheels on a Big Rig” with Ms. Lelake at our Friday Student of the Week assembly.
    3. Seeing the daffodils happily sprouting up on Summit Road—a favorite sign of spring!

A Note from Ms. Lelake Regarding the Spring Concert

You should have received a message from our Superintendent, Lisa Fraser, on Monday afternoon outlining new directives from the Santa Clara County Health Department and the Santa Clara County Office of Education relative to event cancellations due to COVID-19 impacts. The restrictions require that music concerts which involve large numbers of individuals in close proximity be cancelled or postponed.

Sadly, this means that this year we will not be able to showcase our fine Loma musicians in the fashion we have grown accustomed to. While this is likely to be very disappointing to the kids, we must abide by the directives provided. In addition, a postponement is simply not feasible with the end-of year calendar and the uncertainty of future COVID-19 restrictions.

That being said, I have some creative ideas I am looking into as to how we can give our young musicians their day on stage while still respecting public health guidelines. We have a rehearsal on the calendar on March 25th during school hours. I hope to record the rehearsal such that we can share this with both students and parents following the spring break. Though not ideal, it may help kids feel better about the cancellation and may serve to preserve their interest in music moving forward.

Thank you for your support and understanding. I will circle back once I have confirmed the possibility of a digital concert. I plan to share this news with students tomorrow but wanted you to be the first to know such that you can comfort your son/daughter upon hearing the news.

    CTE HSC Fun Night Postponed

In light of recent guidelines set forth in response to COVID-19 concerns, the Blizzard Ball Dance Fun Night initially scheduled for March 20th, has been postponed. More details about future fun nights will be available once health restrictions are lifted.

    Willow St/Main St Burgers Fundraiser

We are having the 1st of our two annual Willow St/Main St Burgers Meet and Eat fundraiser. Mark your calendars for March 18th and May 13th.

Meet up with friends and support the students. For those new to this, you can either place an order or stay and have a great time while kids play and eat.

Show the flyer on your smart phone device to the waiter or bring a flyer with you. Willow St will donate 20% of the total bill and Main St Burger will donate 15%. This fundraiser is only in the Los Gatos location.

Hope to see you all there!
