From Superintendent Fraser
Dear Loma Parents/Guardians,
It is hard to believe that the end of the school year is encroaching. This year will certainly be one for the history books. With the abrupt school closures that transpired in March, we were unable to properly close up classrooms and consequently we will need to coordinate an end-of-year process for distributing student’s personal belongings, while also collecting school-issued materials such as books, uniforms, etc.
In order to adhere to current social-distancing requirements, we will need to set aside several days leading up to our June 4th end date to accomplish this task. In addition, given some of the unique challenges remote learning has posed, we also want to provide an adequate period of time for students to complete and submit distance learning assignments.
To this end, our school principal, Karren Zook, will be including a schedule of activities in today’s Wednesday News such that families can plan accordingly. Please feel free to reach out if you have questions or need additional clarification.
On a parallel path, we are currently in the process of scenario planning for how we can safely return to school in 2020-2021. The critical questions at this time are when to reopen, for whom, and with what health and safety precautions in place. I will keep you abreast of any new developments as they become available. Thank you for your continued partnership.
Sincerely,
Lisa Fraser

End of the Year Plans
In order to provide adequate time for our teachers and staff to close down classrooms, and collect and return materials, while also meeting social distancing requirements, our last day for Zoom meetings will be Tuesday, May 26. All students will attend their core classes that day, so that teachers can bring closure to the year (see special schedule below). Students will have until the end of the day on Monday, June 1, to complete and submit any late or missing assignments to their teachers.
During the week of June 1-4, students and families will be provided with a scheduled time to pick up their personal possessions and classroom supplies, as well as return any borrowed items (library books, text books, etc.) to the school.

LOMA HSC NEWS
How has the 1st week of your Move-A-Thon gone?? Post your activities on the Loma Prieta Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/LomaPrietaHSC/?ref=bookmarks. and find all the details here https://www.lomaprietahsc.org keep on moving during the May Move-A-Thon!
Why? Jog-A-Thon (now Move-A-Thon) is the top fundraiser for our Home and School Club. The money raised helps LPEF fund enrichment programs like Art, Garden, Music and the Library. The funds also support our teachers in purchasing supplies and doing special projects. Without these funds, we will be at risk of losing these critical programs.
Providing an opportunity for our kids to work together toward a shared goal has never been more important, not just financially for our school, but for the emotional well-being of our kids. The more we can create opportunities for connection, the stronger our school community will be. We encourage EVERYONE to participate, even if you are unable to get pledges.
Let’s make this a fun and successful event that will remind us all how much we can accomplish when we work together in support of the BEST SCHOOL AFTER ALL!
HSC is so incredibly humbled and appreciative to our business Sponsors and families' generosity and support! MANY have stepped up with their sponsorships bringing us up to a pledged amount of 48% of our $25K goal!
Thank our heroes below and thank them when you see them next time. Consider a family sponsorship of $250 yourself or solicit as many family donations, pledges and movements for the kids as you can, all are 100% tax deductible! We still need as many pledges as we can to get 52% of our goal. Questions? email us at LomaPrietaHSC@Yahoo.com
