November 12, 2020
Dear Loma Families:
We all hope that yesterday’s mid-weekday off was a treat. I know it was a great day to get caught up on some lingering things. Veteran’s Day holiday is about honoring, acknowledging and thanking the men and women and their families who served or are serving in a branch of our military. We here send you all thanks for your courage and sacrifice.
Tomorrow, November 13th, is World Kindness Day. I invite you to take the opportunity to do a random act of kindness for another human being.

Tech Support Email
Our Technology team is available to support your technology issues during school days 8am-12pm. If you encounter a technology problem, please email email@example.com. Please be aware that our technology department is limited in the support they can provide to personally owned devices. If the issue is beyond their capacity, a school issued device may be suggested. For additional information regarding tech support, please see the attached Hints and Trouble Shooting tips pdf document.
I would like to remind everyone a couple things regarding distance learning. The first is to keep in mind that virtual lessons are just like the classroom but occur in multiple student homes. Other family members in these homes may hear and see what is happening in distance learning classrooms. This is important to remember as you go about your business while your child is connected to his/her virtual classroom. The second is that the recording of any kind and with any device of Zoom classrooms without the prior consent of the teacher and the school principal is prohibited by California Ed Code. Additionally, downloading or distributing any whole or part of virtual lessons in any form is strictly prohibited. Doing so may be a violation of the federal Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Little Food Pantry
Skyland Community Church has taken its food pantry outside. How does it work? "Give what you can. Take what you need." This is all about neighbors helping neighbors. The goal is to help relieve the burden of food insecurity for individuals and families on the mountain. Take only what you need, or donate items that are unopened, unused and unexpired. It's open on the front porch of the church for those who need 1-3 days’ worth of food. Please spread the word! The pantry keeps getting donations almost daily:) There are boxes of books for those missing the library too. Kids drinks and snacks and pop-top canned meals seem to be going quite well along with toiletries. Thanks all for making this a great addition to our community! It is open 24/7 on the front porch of the church's steps at 25100 Skyland Road, Los Gatos, CA. Any Questions? Call Reverend Melanie Weiner at 408-353-1310 or contact the coordinator Shannon Edwards at: firstname.lastname@example.org

NEWS AND UPDATES
Hello From Loma Staff
Interacting with kids is one of the things we miss the most while in distance learning. Having kids in front of us-making us laugh, watching them grow, witnessing them solving problems-these are the things that bring educators joy. Trying to replicate that through a computer screen just isn’t the same. So, with the creativity of Ms. Sullivan, teachers and staff have complied a “We Miss You” message for students and families. Here is a link to the video that you can watch video at your leisure. You are missed and we can’t wait to have you back on campus!

COVID Friendly Goodwill Drive and E-Waste Collection – Dec 5th and 6th in new Location
Finally, the Goodwill Truck is returning to the mountain!!! The truck will be at the Summit Vet Parking Lot on Dec 5th and 6th from 9am to 4pm. Time to get rid of the boxes and E-Waste that you have been saving since the spring and do another sweep and clear out your closets, garage and storage units of unwanted items (not garbage please). Help us fill a truck (or two)! The Goodwill Drive was a huge success in the past and the community has missed the convenience of getting rid of gently used items and E-waste while supporting CTEHSC. See attached flier for more information.
