I continue to be inspired and in awe of the resiliency of our staff, families, and most importantly our students. When I join virtual classrooms, I see young faces engaged in their work and learning. I see eager humans excited to share a recent life happening. These are things I would see in traditional brick and mortar classrooms. Only now I see these things as a student Zooms from the backseat of the family car as mom takes care of needed errands. I see these things as students Zoom from their kitchens with dad in the background cooking breakfast. I see these things as students Zoom from mom’s work office. The fact that you all support your kids no matter where you are is an inspiration and not easy to do. Thank you for doing so!
LOMA PUBLIC EDUCATION NEWS (LPEF)
We appreciate all of your support as we navigate these unprecedented times!
Remote Learning Attendance Reminder
Please contact your school office for any of the following reasons during remote learning:
- Your child cannot log into class-email the teacher and the appropriate school office.
- Your child had technical issues or other issues that caused them to log into class late.
- Your child will be absent, at an appointment, or leaving class early.
Absences from school are cause for concern. Students who miss just one or two days of school each month risk falling seriously behind. Being absent can from school can lead to significant problems. Students who miss many days of school are more likely to fail classes, drop out from school, and have poor relationships with parents, teachers, and peers. Please remember that every absence matters. Thank you for supporting your child in their attendance at school.

MLK Holiday-No School – Jan 18th
School Day - Jan 19th
This is just a quick reminder that Tuesday, Jan 19th is a school day with instruction planned. The original planned professional development no school day is being reserved and “floated” to a day in the future to combine with an asynchronous learning day to provide teacher 2 days to prepare their physical classrooms for hybrid/in-person learning. When that “floating” day is firmly known, I will be sure to communicate to you.

CT English Leo’s Club
Hi mountain community! CT’s Leo’s Club is extending this pet toys drive an additional week. Please consider donating any unwanted items described below.
The CT Leos Club, a group of middle schoolers dedicated to improving our wonderful community, are working on a project to make animal toys to donate to local shelters. But we realized that we could help you, too! If you have any old animal toys that are collecting dust and cluttering the corners of your home, now is your chance to give them to a good cause. Drop the toys off between 1/6/21 and 1/13/21 at the box in front of C.T English’s front office (23800 Summit Road) or, if you aren’t leaving the house, we can pick it up, contact email@example.com. The toys must be in good condition. We promise to stay socially distanced and masked at all times, not only with you but with other members of the CT Leo’s Club, and to be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Preparing for Hybrid Learning Q&A
What happens if my child forgets a mask or refuses to wear one?
We all know that things can be forgotten. If your child forgets their mask, one will be provided before they enter any school building.
If the issue is the students’ refusal to wear a mask and there is not a medical reason prevent the wearing of a mask, the student will be offered a mask and will be counseled on the importance of wearing a mask to protect them and everyone else. Parents will be notified and expected to support school personnel in requiring your child to wear a mask. Upon the 3rdrefusal to wear a mask, the student will be changed from In-person Hybrid to 100% full distance learning. For the safety of all our students and our staff, it is vitally important that students and families understand that mask wearing when on school grounds is not negotiable.
Will my child still be on Zoom when at school in person?
Our intention is to provide students with interactive in-person learning. However, there will be times when teachers need in-person students on Zoom, for example to interact with at home peers. Additionally, students will still be using technology for learning experiences and access to learning management systems such as Google Classroom and SeeSaw.
Will parents be able to volunteer in in-person classrooms?
Not at this time. We will continue limiting access to campus buildings and limiting the number of contacts classrooms are exposed to each day where we can. This includes allowing parents to volunteer. There may be be other volunteer opportunities outside the classroom that will allow parents to participate. As these needs arise, they will be shared with you.
