    Loma Families,

I hope this edition of the Wednesday News finds you and yours healthy and enjoying the springtime. Inside you will find a correction to the upcoming school picture day schedule and information regarding LPEF’s KEEP campaign. The KEEP campaign is a vital part of our school funding and a contribution of any amount is a generous gift to the programs that support and nourish our kids. I thank you in advance for your support.

I want to take a moment to remind you that the Daily Home Health Screening is an important part of our Covid-19 safety mitigation protocol. Please complete this form through PowerSchool each morning your child will be learning on campus. If you leave home and forgot to complete it, you can contact the appropriate school office to provide your child’s health update.

    LPEF NEWS

    LPEF Update – Superpowers Activated!

KEEP Campaign Has Launched and there are Superheroes Everywhere!

You might have noticed a few of our community superheroes out and about this week. They came out in full superhero gear to ask you to answer our S.O.S. call and Save Our Schools. Now we need everyone in our community to step up and answer the call.

Here are your S.O.S. Actions for the week!

    1. SIGN-UP TODAY - we are going peer to peer for crowd funding so you can reach out to everyone in your superhero universe.
      • Visit KEEP Cause Vox and click “Join The Campaign" (this is very easy and takes 1-2 minutes).
      • Join a team. You can pick what team you would like to join (there are teams for each grades) and the funds you donate, and raise will roll up to the team goal.
    2. Donate!
      • If you can make a personal donation, now is a great time, LPEF Donate Page! Since this is a peer-to-peer campaign, there will also be opportunities to reach out to your networks of family and friends to help Save Our Schools!
    3. Send us Videos and Photos!
      • If you enjoyed our Coming Soon or Launch Video - we have more to come and are looking for content! Here is what we need:
        • Mountain Strong Gear Photos (we can never have enough)
        • O.S. Photos - print our SOS logo on colored paper and smile
        • Superhero costume photos - if you snapped a shot of your favorite superhero in full gear - we’d love to have it.
    1. CALLING ALL APPLE EMPLOYEES!

    2-for-1 Matching Grant*

    • Available to all eligible employees who make their donations via org/donate and request a match to Apple between April 1st and April 30th, 2021. The annual match maximum has been increased from $10K to $20K during this donation period and YOUR donation is included in our $100K match. See attached flyer.

    LOVING THE MATH!

    Your $5K + $5K LPEF match + Apple $10K = $20K

    Your $10K + $10K LPEF match + Apple $20K = $40K

    KEEP your Cans and Bottles!

Do you have empty aluminum cans and plastic drink bottles? We’d love them!

Loma and CT parent and Youth Leader Lisa Sullivan is organizing a can and bottle drive from now through May 28th. Eligible cans and bottles can be dropped off to campus any day of the week for our families in the district, and also on Wednesdays for community members. These empty containers will then be taken to the recycling plant for the cash refund they provide.

What? Empty aluminum cans and plastic drinks bottles (see attached flyer for specifics – NO glass please)

When? – Now through May 28th

Where? – Kids at Loma and CT can drop their items to the school curb as they are dropped off for school. Community members can drop the items to the bins outside the CT office any Wednesday between now and May 26th. (Please adhere to social distancing guidelines and wear a mask on campus).

Please note we cannot accept alcoholic beverage containers on campus, but Lisa will organize collection of these items if you have them. See contact details in the flyer.

ALL CRV MONEY COLLECTED WILL GO TO THE KEEP CAMPAIGN! Please save every eligible item you have, and I promise it will make a difference!

    Take care,

     Billy Martin, Principal

    OTHER NEWS

Daily Home Symptom Screening-Applies to ALL GRADES & ALL STUDENTS K-8!

TO BE DONE EACH MORNING THAT YOUR CHILD WILL BE ON CAMPUS FOR INPERSON INSTRUCTION PRIOR TO ARRIVAL ON CAMPUS!! REPEATED NEGLIGENCE IN COMPLETING THIS FORM COULD RESULT IN YOUR CHILD BEING PLACED IN DISTANCE LEARNING.

Each day that your child will be on campus for in-person instruction, parents and/or guardians will be required to complete a home symptom screening. This screening will be completed through PowerSchool. Follow the steps below to access the form via PowerSchool. If you have any login issues, please contact Julie Bourque.

    1. Login into your Parent Portal of PowerSchool
    2. Click on Forms in the left-hand navigation menu
    3. Select the 2021 In-Person COVID-19 Student Daily Check In
    4. Complete the form and submit

This symptom screening is open and must be completed by a parent/guardian prior to arriving on campus. If you are having difficulty accessing the form, please contact Julie Bourque for help and support. Students who arrive to campus without a completed Home Symptom Screening will be removed from class and a health screening will be conducted.

Daily Home Symptom Screening Tips & Tricks:

    • Complete the form the morning of in-person instruction. Do not complete the form the night before.
    • Do not use the PowerSchool mobile app. Access the form using an internet browser. You can access on your mobile device as long as it is via an internet browser and not the mobile app.
    • If you have issues, try a different internet browser. Google Chrome has proven to be problematic with PowerSchool.
    • Make sure you are logged into PowerSchool through the Parent Portal and not through the Student Portal.
    • Use the link provided, Parent Portal of PowerSchool. Do not Google PowerSchool. It will direct you to an incorrect link.

    CTE & Loma Morning Drop-Off

When dropping off your child(ren), please:

    1. PULL ALL THE WAY FORWARD. Pull as far forward to the indicated “Pull to Here” sign as you can.
    2. DO NOT DROP OFF YOUR CHILD ON THE HILL DRIVEWAY. You can begin unloading your child once you reach the CTE Flagpole.
    3. HAVE YOUR CHILD READY TO EXIT THE VEHICLE BEFORE YOU STOP: mask on, good-byes given, etc. Make your drop off as quickly and safely as possible.
    4. Have your CHILD EXIT THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE ONLY
    5. Once your child has exited the vehicle and is safely on the sidewalk, exit the drop off lane and exit campus.

If your child will travel home a way other than being picked up in the school parking lot (walk, bike, scooter, bridge, etc.), please email J.Bourque@loma.k12.ca.us at CT and r.marin@loma.k12.ca.us at Loma with the information regarding how your child will get home. Be certain that your child knows how they are supposed to get home after school.

    School Attendance Reminder

State and Federal law require that school aged children be enrolled and attend a public, private, charter, or homeschool. If your child is enrolled but NOT attending or participating, they may be considered truant. If you are experiencing difficulty supporting your child’s attendance at school, reach out to school-there may be ways we can help.
