    Loma & CT Families,

I know that each and every time we arrive at the end of the school year, school staff express how quickly the year has gone and how much we can’t believe it is the end. Especially this year, it’s hard not to have that sentiment. The Covid-19 pandemic has limited us in so many ways. I look forward to a return to more normal times.

As you begin your summer break, I want to take one last opportunity to thank you-our Mountain Strong families-for everything you have done this school year. From turning your homes into classrooms, to shuttling your kids to and from with different schedules, to drive through promotions and supplies pick-ups, you all have come through to support your kids and our schools in ways that my simple gratitude cannot express. Our mountain community is very lucky to have amazing families and your school community appreciates you more than you will ever realize.

I also want to give a special thank you to Loma Home and School Club for organizing our modified Jog-a-thon. They pulled off a great event with only a couple week’s notice for planning. The students had a great time at the event.

Lastly, congratulations to all our 5th grade and 8th grade graduates! We are all very proud of your hard work and dedication.

Have a restful and recharging summer break and we will see you in the fall when school resumes on August 12th.

Be on lookout for information coming your way soon about what school is expected to look like next year and registration information.

FINAL THANK YOU– We have an amazing, generous, supportive community and surpassed our goal of raising an INCREDIBLE $668k in the LPEF KEEP! 2021 campaign.

THANK YOU to all of our wonderful volunteers, donors, parent champions, fundraisers, friends, families, teachers and staff, and community members for your incredible support!  Our schools are the heart of our community, and we are so very grateful for all of your ongoing support.

Wishing you a wonderful summer! Questions? finance@lpef.org or KEEP@lpef.org

    District Borrowed Materials

Our school offices are open on June 4 until 2pm to return any district borrowed items that still need to be returned.

    School Library Book Return

Please remind your child to return any and all library books asap. Students can return books to their classroom teachers, the school offices, or the return box at either school library. The Loma Library has almost 300 books checked out that need to be returned! If you have any questions regarding lost or damaged books, email Mrs. Fichthorn at Loma or Mrs. Ammarati at CT for more information.

    Screen-Free Summer Reading

After more than a full school year connecting and learning through computer screens, we hope that everyone uses the summer to take a break from screens. But we still need kids to read over the summer to maintain their reading proficiency. Elementary teachers have shared screen free reading bingo activities for summer use. There will be incentives in the fall for students who complete their summer reading bingo cards. Parents need to initial the bingo spots as students complete the activities. Students will be able to access AR in the fall and take the appropriate quizzes for books read over the summer.

    Students Entering 7th Grade

California schools are required to check immunization records for all new student admissions and for all students advancing to 7th grade. All current 6th grade students planning to return in the fall need to provide documentation of Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) booster and Varicella (Chicken Pox). Please send documentation of vaccines to our Loma Elementary School Secretary, Raquel Marin at r.marin@loma.k12.ca.us.

    8th Grade Graduation Information

We will celebrate our graduating 8th graders June 3rd at 4pm at the Loma Elementary School track and field. Gates open for entry at 3pm. Ceremony begins at 4pm. Each graduate may bring 4 guests. Your party must enter with your graduate-your graduate is your ticket into the event. Only those who have rsvp’d prior to the event will be allowed admission. Plan for warm weather in the sun with hats and sunscreen. There will be no concession sales so bring water.

    Free One-On-One Math Tutoring K-8

Due to the great response from the community, The Mountain Math Initiative is pleased to announce additional services to support our kids. We are now able to add free scheduled one-on-one math and physics help for students that benefit from individualized tutoring. We have many dedicated Loma and CT alumni volunteers that would love to work with our community’s kids. If you are interested in setting up free one-on-one tutoring, specified to your child's needs, please reach out to the MMI Volunteer Coordinator, Marcella Jones, at mountainmarcella@gmail.com to be matched with a tutor.
