My behavior policy assumes that all students are here to learn, and just need to be reminded of how their behavior can affect their education, and that of their peers. I start with a gentle, but firm suggestion for a behavioral change. If the behavior continues, the next consequence is that students name on the board, letting them know that the need to redirect themselves back into the lesson. From there, the next consequence is a lunch time detention, with a written reflection on the behavior and ideas from the student, and teacher on how to proceed positively. If this continues, and it rarely will, parents and administration will be brought in to help the student figure out how to succeed in the classroom.
