Deana A. Arnold
Deana moved to the Santa Cruz mountains in fall 1999, after receiving
her Ph.D. in genetics from U.C. Davis. She and her husband, Kevin, have been
married since 1997 and have two children in the Loma Prieta school district, Zoë
and Kaelie.
Prior to beginning her service on the Board of Trustees in 2014,
Deana was already an active member of the mountain community. She served for
three years as publicist for the Loma Home & School Club, was on the
Superintendent’s Coordinating Council, and was a Campaign Circle member for the
Measure H campaign in fall 2013. She also coordinated the Loma HSC-sponsored Family
Science Day every year from 2011 through 2016. In addition, she is a
member of the Summit Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), an editor for
the Mountain Network News, and a member of Skyland Community Church. She’s also
a proud “lunch lady” at the CTE Snack Shack and a volunteer for Theatre in the
Mountains. In 2016, Deana helped in the development of a ten-year facilities
plan for the district, and is actively involved in the next steps for the
replacement of the facilities lost in the community center fire.
Deana
is proud to represent our community as a school board member and is dedicated
to maintaining the excellent academic programs, supporting the exceptional
staff, and ensuring the fiscal stability of Loma Prieta Joint Union Elementary
School District.
