About Mrs. Carolyn Dufort
1st Grade, Room 6
Welcome to Ist Grade!
Children, nature, languages, and music are my favorite things and I am excited about the year ahead with your students!
I attended UC Davis as a Regents Scholar and received my B.S in Human Development and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.
I have been teaching in various capacities in the district beginning in 2002, when I returned to teaching as a substitute and long-term substitute teacher and first experienced the "magic" of this welcoming and supportive mountain community. Since then, I have taught in several positions including K-5 music, 4th grade math, sharing contracts in 4th and 5th grade, and 5 years in 3rd grade. I am excited to begin my 4th year in 1st grade! Hands-on activities, emerging technology, Project-Based Learning (PBL), and the integration of traditional vocal music are a part of the educational journey in my classroom.
When our 3 children were in school, I enjoyed volunteering in each of their classrooms. During that time, I created the model for the student-centered theatre arts program that is now utilized throughout the LGUSD. I later served as LGHS Music Booster President for 8 years.
I live in the town of Los Gatos with my husband, Mike, and we love to spend time at our cabin at Lake Tahoe. Our children are now in their 20's, have graduated from college, and have joined the workforce in their chosen field. It is always a treat when we can all be together!
