    Reading

    Read 20 minutes a day with an adult. Discuss what you read.

    Take comprehension test for all books that you read
    1) Click HERE to go to Raz-Kids
    2) Click on the Green Student Login Button on the right side
    3) Login instructions have been emailed to you separately.

    2) When you are done listening to the story, choose from some of the following comprehension questions. You can discuss them with your parent.

    • Describe the main character in the story. Tell about where they live, what they like or dislike, and what their personality is like.
    • What was the problem in the book and how was it solved?
    • Did anyone in the book do something you did not like? Why?
    • Re-tell the story including what happened in the begining, middle, and end.
    • How did the main character feel during the book? How do you know?
    • Did this book remind you of anything that has happened to you? What?

    9) You will begin with a skill assessment (which they call "training), it only takes about 10 minutes.

     Visit freckle.com and login to your account. All students in my classroom now have a Freckle account. Here are instructions for logging in.

    1) Click on 'Sign In' in the upper right corner, sign in as a student

    2)Enter our class code: JC9YZB 

    3) Select your name from the list

    4) Select "Math"

    5) Select the area you'd like to practice. *Students may need assistance reading instructions*

    Limited internet access? No problem, check out these fun activities.

    • Read, read read!!! Read your favorite books and discuss with your parent, practice retelling the story: what happened first, in the middle, at the end.
    • Draw, paint, create pictures 
    • Cook and bake, help with measuring, mixing and of course tasting!
    • Make playdough, click here for one recipe, there are lots of options online so if you don't have all of the ingredients at hand just look for a different recipe.
    • Puzzles
    • Board Games
    • Cards Games
    • Write letters and draw pictures for friends, grandparents, relatives and mail them.
    • Get outside, get some fresh air and let off some steam.

    Math

    Subitize to 10. Subitize is the ability to tell the number of objects in a set, quickly, without counting. Subitizing develops math fluency, when students recognize sets without having to count each object and it helps develop number sense and the ability to perform mental math.
