All routine pull out programs have begun, and we will be starting both Art In Action and Project Cornerstone later this month.

Project Cornerstone - Jennifer Seal-Cramer, Majorie Bowles
Langauage Arts - We will be reading the novel, The Tiger Rising by Kate DiCamillo, while working on our first reading unit entitled Interpreting Characters. This unit will focus upon the importance of establishing a reading life, thinking about characters and their motivations deeply, and buildng interpretations. Daily reading and writing in their workshop journals will enable them to think about the characters in a more complex way.
Math - Module 1 - Place Value, Rounding, and Algorithms for Addition and Subtraction. Homework typically M-TH with a mid module assessment on 9/20 and the goal of completing the module by the end of the month.
Spelling - weekly word lists centered around specific phonetic rules. Pretests on Monday and final test and packets due on Fridays.
Social Studies - California Studies Weekly 1-4 focusing on the geopgraphy of California. Assessments given on Fridays with supporting projects along the way.
Science - Ms. Ignoffo reports that the first unit of study in the science lab is Sound.
