    Dear Loma Families,

Thank you for a wonderful and productive school year.  I can’t thank everyone enough for your endless hours of volunteering, chaperoning, reading, organizing, donating and doing whatever was necessary to support students—both at home and at school.

I would like to extend a huge thank you to our school staff.  Their endless energy, skills and devotion to our schools are remarkable. What a truly incredible group of professionals we have on this mountain.

A final word to our Loma and CT students:  Thank you for all your hard work throughout the school year.  I am so honored to be your principal; you make me proud every single day. You keep me laughing and smiling. I am grateful for your joy, astute insights and amazing talents.  Best wishes to our promoting 5th graders and graduating 8th graders. We will miss you!

Until next year, wishing everyone a safe, happy, and fun summer!

My Top Three Moments of the Week

    1. Finding a room full of blanket forts and kids in their PJs in Mrs. Ramsay’s room as they celebrated their excellent class behavior.
    2. Making contraptions and sculptures out of boxes with a group of 1st and 2nd graders at Loma’s “Day of Play.”
    3. Checking out the fabulous CT Yearbook. Awesome job, Mrs. Denues and team! You rock!

    Best,

    Karren Zook, Principal

KEEP! on KEEPING On - 3 Weeks to Go!!

With three weeks to go 137 families have donated (up from 124 families last week) and our current total is $136,000 (up from $95,000 last week). We are currently at 45% of families participating which is huge increase from where we have recently seen participation (hovering around 10%).  Thank you to all of you who have already donated!

In order to keep all the amazing programs our kids enjoy (music, P.E, library services, support services, Loma science, C.T. electives and Art in Action) we need to hit our goal of $200,000 by June 30th. Over the next week our goal is to raise $50,000 and be at 50% participation. Don't delay, make your donation today at https://www.lpef.org/donate.

Thank you to Mark Smith from Victoria Capital Mortgage (http://marksmithloans.com), Peninsula Builders (http://www.peninsulabuildersinc.com), Kramer Development (http://www.kramerpdc.com/), The Carlo Law Group (https://www.carlolawgroup.com/) and Young Naturopathic (https://youngwellnesscenter.com/) for participating in our matching donation challenges and to everyone who donated. We hit all of our matching challenges and doubled our impact. We appreciate your support!

    Loma HSC News

    Jogathon T-shirt Sale

The HSC is having a Jogathon t-shirt sale. We have this year's t-shirt, last year's t-shirt, 2015, 2014, and 2013 for $5 each.  We have various sizes available; contact Amy at amychaas@gmail.com if you're interested.

    Pledges

The end of school is quickly approaching. If you haven't already, please send in your pledges asap!

You can find the link to pay for your pledges on the HSC website here: https://www.lomaprietahsc.org/jogathon. If you are paying for your pledges with PayPal or a check, please remember to put your student's name in the notes section. If paying with cash, please put your pledge in an envelope with your student's name and "Jogathon" written on the envelope and put it in the white box in the Loma Office. This will help us greatly with keeping track of pledges. If you have any questions about your pledges, feel free to email Amy Haas at amychaas@gmail.com.

Wondering where your pledges go? Pledges fund Jogathon t-shirts and medals, class supplies ($600 per teacher), class parties ($5 per child), field trip and hot lunch sponsorships, and supplies for our school (like Kleenex, wipes, hand sanitizer, paper towels, band aids, etc.). The Loma HSC also donates $20,000-$26,000 per year (depending on how much money we raised that year) to KEEP.

We really appreciate your pledges, and we hope you and your child had a fun Jogathon this year.

    Loma Garden

The Loma veggie garden behind the Kinder playground is in need of attention!  If you are interested in helping a group of like-minded parents rehabilitate the Loma Veggie Garden this summer and next year, please email Adelia Rowland (asterlily@gmail.com).  Also, if you have supplies, extra plants, or other donations, feel free to reach out.

    Mountain Jam 2019

Mountain Jam will be held again this year on Saturday, September 7th at the Loma Prieta Playfield and Gazebo.  Mountain Jam is a free family music festival and picnic that features local bands and individual performances by young mountain musicians and vocalists.  Proceeds from sale of silent auction items and concessions directly benefit the music program at CT and Loma.  Any student or student music group who is interested in performing should contact Jean Niemann at jeanmullen7146@gmail.com.  Also, any students who want to volunteer the day of the event and earn community service hours should reach out to the same email.
