September 10, 2014

Dear Parents:

The temperature is going up this week and our water reserves are going down. Please have your child bring plenty of water in a water bottle this week. We will have water available, but a good full water bottle to start the day would really help us.

Who Let the Dogs Out?

Just a reminder that dogs (and other pets), even leashed, are not allowed on campus during school hours.  Though adorable, they cause a distraction at parent pickup, slow the dismissal process, and on occasion, cause safety issues.  We have had otherwise well-mannered dogs snap and bite when provoked by otherwise well-mannered kids.  Please help us keep everyone safe by leaving your pet at home, or in a well-ventilated vehicle, during the pick up process.  Thanks!

When to Stay Home

Most of you have probably heard about the terrible virus hitting kids in the Midwest. This is a good reminder to parents to keep your kids home when they are sick.  If your child has a fever, please don’t send them to school! Students need to be “fever free” for a full 24 hours before returning to campus.  Your attention to this protocol will help us keep other kids and your child’s teacher healthy throughout the year.  Students who are sick should be called in daily to the school office. They will be given an extension on late work without penalty.

Cross County Meet - Oct 1st

CT English is hosting our annual cross county meet on Oct. 1, beginning at 4:00pm.  This is a well attended event with large numbers of athletes from schools across the West Valley Athletic League.  Traffic, parking, and field space become challenging shortly after parent pickup.  We have many parents arriving from around the Silicon Valley, as well as numerous large school buses vying for space.  If you are coming to the meet, please plan to arrive early to get a good parking spot.  If you are not planning to stay for the meet, you may want to exit the school grounds quickly that day and avoid Summit Road in the afternoon as traffic will be impacted.  Please be mindful that many parents will be coming to the mountain for the first time and will be unfamiliar with our traffic patterns.  Please allow for extra time and extra patience.

The Gala is Coming – October 4th!

Don’t miss out!  The Gala Team announced last night that sales are now open for this year’s event.  For those who haven’t been, the LPEF Gala is spectacular event that serves as the biggest fundraiser of the year.  Held on the beautiful grounds of Maison du Lac (just off Summit Road) this is a magical evening on the mountain and not to be missed.  The event will sell out!  Get your tickets now!  Really!  You can order on line or get more info at

Some of the hottest Gala items are the coveted reserved parking spots!  You can’t even get one of those if you are the Superintendent!  You can bid like crazy in the live or online auction, or you can win one for the year with a single lucky raffle ticket.  Look for ways to donate, shop, promote your business, and support your local schools by checking out www.lpef.orgThe amazing Gala Team still needs volunteers for a variety of tasks and items for the silent and live auctions.  Getting involved with this event is a great way to get to know a friendly, talented group of people.
